Andrew Spence is a Member of the firm. His practice focuses on the defense of physicians and other health care providers in medical malpractice and professional negligence matters. Mr. Spence also specializes in the defense of health care providers before state regulatory boards, and has defended health care providers in formal hearings before state regulatory boards. Mr. Spence has tried numerous jury trials in the District of Columbia and Maryland courts. He has experience with general civil litigation and serious personal injury matters. In addition, Mr. Spence handles appellate matters and has considerable experience before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Mr. Spence is a lifelong resident of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, and he graduated from Landon School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College in 1984 and his Juris Doctor degree from The National Law Center at The George Washington University in 1988.
Mr. Spence has practiced continuously in the Washington, D.C. area since graduation from law school, joining Gleason, Flynn, Emig, Fogleman & McAfee, Chartered in May 2017. Mr. Spence is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
Mr. Spence has been rated AV Preeminent in Legal Ability & Ethical Standards by Martindale-Hubbell since 2006 and has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at The George Washington University Law School.
