Gleason, Flynn, Emig, Fogleman & McAfee, Chartered was founded in 1983 as Gleason & Flynn, when the firm's founders, Jim Gleason and Mike Flynn decided to create a firm of skilled and aggressive trial lawyers. Gerard Emig and Chris Fogleman became shareholders in 1991 and 1996, respectively. Larry McAfee became a shareholder in 2006. Over the years the firm has increased in size yet its mission has remained constant: The attorneys at GFEFM are dedicated to using their experience and expertise to best service the legal needs of their clients.
GFEFM attorneys represent clients in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia in all state and federal trial and appellate courts as well as before administrative agencies. The firm is recognized for its work in defending healthcare providers (such as doctors, nurses, nursing homes and hospitals), construction companies, corporations, banks, and other financial institutions in all types of civil litigation. These cases often involve protracted and complex litigation.
In addition to its trial work, Gleason, Flynn, Emig, Fogleman, & McAfee specializes in defending employers, insurers, and large self-insureds in claims in Maryland and the District of Columbia. GFEFM attorneys are effective at reducing costs due to their involvement throughout the entire claims process. Our attorneys represent persons who have sustained serious personal injuries as a result of the negligence of others. Since its inception, GFEFM has recovered millions of dollars for their clients through settlements and trials.
The firm's attorneys are skilled in achieving successful results for their clients through alternatives to trial, such as arbitration and mediation. Several of the firm's attorneys serve as court appointed mediators on a variety of cases. The firm also has considerable expertise in representing healthcare providers in board disciplinary matters and hospital privilege disputes. Our attorneys also represent several area contractors, subcontractors and hospitals on business matters including the preparation of contracts, corporate documents, employment law, and all business litigation.
